Panchakarma

   Panchakarma is a five-fold purification process considered classical in Ayurveda. It comprises of: Abhyanga (oil massage), Swedan (Sweat treatment), Emesis (therapeutic vomiting), Vasti and Nasya. Also, several other related treatments.



Abhyanga (Massage)
 

Abhyanga:

Abhyanga or oil massage, which is vigorously done but is soothing in effect, is intended to loosen and ease the body cells. The deposited impurities are removed and ‘prana’, the life force is made to move through the body. Thus the nervous centre and mind regains the lost, the skin becomes soft, circulation is stimulated sleep improves.

Swedan:


This sweat treatment opens up the pores of the skin thus getting rid of the fluid impurities from the body. Swedan is varied out either by a herbal steam bath or by exercises. It relaxes the body, improves blood circulation, results in weight loss, and tones up the skin.

Emesis:

The Congestion in the lungs due to excess mucus- Kapha- is eliminated by therapeutic vomiting, a treatment as per Ayurveda. Emesis Therapy or Vaman is also intended to curing chronic asthma, indigestion etc.  

Vasti (Enema Therapy)

The wastes Accumulated in the body are dragged to the colon. Ayurvedic Vasti introduced in the rectum is highly effective against constipation, backache, rheumaticism, sexual disorders etc.  

Nasya:

The bodily toxins accumulated in the sinus, throat etc are ousted off the body off the body by the nasal administration of medication. This maintains an order in the body by controlling migraine convulsions, certain eye and ear disorder. Breathing is also improved.  

Udvartana:

This treatment uses herbalized paste for massaging. Weight reduction is the final result.
 



Sarvanga Swedanam
(steam Bath)

Shirodhara:

Shirodhara is the pouring of warm medicated oil over the forehead just like a stream on a superficial level. It calms the mind thereby reducing stress, relieving insomnia etc.

Shirovasty:

Though Slightly differs from ‘Shirodhara’, it is the same for both in terms of the effect – reduction of worries, insomnia etc. Shirovasty is the oil bath of the head. Shirovasty is keeping warm medicated oil for a certain time in a special cap over the head.



Netra Tarpana:

It is keeping medicated ghee over the eyes for a certain time at a specific temperature. It strengthens nervous system, improves eyesight and eases pain and fatigue of the eyes. 

Matra Vasti:

An oil enema with herbal extracts resulting in clearer thinking, eliminates body wastes and toxins.

Shodana Vasti:

Shodana Vasti is the kind of enema with herbal decotion. It increases strength, improves intellect, and tones up complexion.

Pizhichill:

Pizhichill is a royal Ayurvedic treatment. During Pizhichill the therapists pour warm oil continuously all over the body of the patient while gently massaging. It is done to cure cases of joint problems and other rheumatic problems.

Pinda Sveda:

In Pinda Sveda, massaging is done by trained and experienced technicians, using a bag filled with specially medicated special rice (Njavara). Very useful to remove body pains, improve digestion, cures sclerosis.
